Double Baby Shower

(Just so you know if you were patient enough to watch the entire slide show, I was not able to edit and delete some of the photos due to some technical issues with our computer so sorry there are SO many photos. Don't feel like you have to watch the whole thing because it may take forever)

The last weekend in April we had a girls weekend in Michigan. Becky and Michelle met us there and we had a a great time. We arrived on Thursday in Detroit. After finally getting a rental car (the rental car company did not have very good service) we all met up and drove to Farmington Hills, MI and met my friend Adrienne and her son, Bentley, for dinner. Adrienne and I were roommates our Freshman year in college. She moved to Detroit a couple years ago because her husband is going to Medical school at Wayne State. I had not seen her in years...so it was SO good to be able to see her and to meet her son. Bentley is about 8 months old and he is so precious and sweet. We got caught up over hamburgers at Ruby Tuesday's. The evening was much too short and hopefully it won't be a couple more years before I see her again. You wil see a picture of us and Bentley in the slide show.

On Thursday evening my mom and sisters and I stayed at a hotel in Farmington Hills. That night Becky and Michelle made a quick run to Starbucks and then we gave Becky a chemical peel. I brought a peel from work because she said she wanted a strong peel and that is definitely what she got! She spent most of Saturday afternoon and Sunday peeling like crazy. She was a trooper and hopefully she is loving her skin now.

On Friday we went for a walk and had breakfast at the hotel. Then we drove about an hour to East Lansing to visit Renee at MSU. We got to see her cute apartment and went to lunch with her. We all enjoyed being able to see where she spends her time and where she lives. After saying good-bye to Renee we had a little surprise Mother's Day celebration. We had all signed a card for mom and we treated her (and ourselves) to a pedicure. We wanted to be sure we celebrated and honored our wonderful mother when we were all together. Friday evening we headed to Grand Rapids. We of course first had to make a stop at Meijer to pick up groceries for dinner. We arrived at my grandparents house and made a pasta dinner. After eating and chatting we headed over to Sam and Amber's. Marie, Kristen and Seth met us there as well and we all walked to a little ice cream stand not too far from the house. We then headed to Rob and Marie's house because Rob was there watching their daughters. We got to spend a good amount of time catching up with all our cousins.

Saturday was the big event...the double baby shower! The shower was for Amber and I. We are just a couple weeks apart in our pregnancy. Her due date is August 7 and mine is August 25. The shower was at Aunt Cheri's house, which is just beautiful. We had lunch and opened gifts. I got so many cute little boy clothes, books and things for the nursery. Becky and Michelle bought us a web cam so we can Skype from across the country. They also included instructions for Skype titled: "How to talk with your Aunts and Uncles across the Country". This gift made me start to cry (I have a good excuse though...I have way too many crazy hormones going on right now) It was just emotional to think that they will not be there to experience every moment of our little boy and their little nephew. Amber got so many cute things for their nursery as well. They are doing an animal, safari theme and it is going to be so adorable. It is special to be able to share this experience with her! As an activity for the shower everyone there wrote a baby blessing and then Marie and Kristen assembled them into a banner so we could put it in the baby's room. It was so thoughtful and the colors of the banner coordinate perfectly with our nursery theme. You will see us holding up the banners in the pictures in the slide show. The shower was so great and it was fun because both sides of my family were there...including both of my grandma's.

After the shower we changed clothes and then headed to Coopersville to my Grandma and Grandpa Salier's farm house. This was the first time I had seen it because they did not move in too long ago. We were going to have an outside picnic but it was raining like crazy so we moved the picnic to inside the garage. It worked out perfectly. After that we got to hang out with Grandma and Grandpa, Aunt Beth, Renee, Jon and Lisa and the kids. Abby was practicing her photography skills with my camera so you'll see some nice shots of plants and crayons etc. :)

Sunday it was time to say good-bye. The weekend just went by too quickly. Michelle left early Sunday morning from Grand Rapids and Becky, mom and I drove to Detroit to catch our plane. Usually we only get to go to Michigan to see family once a year so it was special to be able to see everyone an extra time this year. And I got to spend a weekend with my sisters and mom. It was so fun and memorable!
