Girls Weekend and More

I feel like it has been forever since I have written a new post...I almost forgot how to sign in to blogger. :) Well, I have not posted lately because I have been BUSY! Two weekends ago we had a girls weekend in Iowa. Despite the freeezing temperatures it was very fun. We arrived in Orange City on Friday night and went out to dinner at the nicest restaurant in town, Blue Mountain. Then on Saturday morning we got pedicures (by Americans,I might add) and it was great. Then we were off to help Michelle try on wedding dresses!! She looked beautiful in each one so it is going to be a hard decision on which one to get but I know she will soon find the perfect dress. After that I got a drive-by tour of the Kuiken family farm and we headed back to Michelle's house to relax and make dinner. Michelle grilled steaks that were fresh from the cow. We also made the weekend into a Mother's day celebration because we aren't all going to be together this Sunday. So on Saturday night we gave our mom her gift from her 3 girls. (see pictures) To finish off Saturday night we talked wedding details to help Michelle start to get organized. Sunday we went to church (now just as a side note, Orange City is very small and quaint and the most traffic out on the road was on Sunday) and then afterwards headed to brunch to continue to celebrate Mother's day. Then we traveled 45 minutes to Sioux City and went to David's Bridal, Gap Outlet, and Kohl's (where I had to get a new suitcase because mine busted on the flight over). Next we sat at Starbuck's and chatted, then we went to Four Brothers Restaurant and then Blue Bunny Ice Cream. Le Mars (sp?) a town close to Orange City is the Ice Cream Capital of the world so we had to experience it. Well that was quite wordy and long, but that pretty much sums up the weekend.

Two days after getting back from Iowa, Kerry (co-worker) and I headed to San Diego for a conference. The conference was with the Society of Plastic Surgical Skin Care Specialists. My dad had a conference that was at the same time so it sort of turned into a mini vacation. Aaron and my mom came out for a couple of days as well. The conference was packed full with so much information. It is taking several days to digest it all.

Now I am back home and back to reality. The pictures are from our time in Iowa. I didn't think to take any in San Diego. :(

We got Michelle a bunch of really cute engagement gifts...this adorable luggage tag is from Jana!
